Religious Beliefs on the After-Life Essay - 965 Words
Death is a terrible tragedy that strikes everyone on this planet. It fills everyoneââ¬â¢s mind with grief and dread. Perhaps for this reason, a belief in After-life maybe consistent with the psychological needs of the individual, since it acts as a measure of comfort. Every culture has a different perspective on After-life, which can be seen from an anthropological perspective. Anthropology is defined as ââ¬Ëthe study of people, or more properly, of human kindââ¬â¢ (Podolefsky, Brown and Lacy, 2009). There are various approaches to an anthropological study; this essay will focus on the cross cultural approach. The cross cultural perspective can be defined as a comparative study of aspects of two cultures (Thirumaran, 2011). The body must be transformed and purified thr ough fire to detach the spirit from its earthly bounds, so that the spirit can cross over. Once the soul has crossed, it will await judgment. On the other hand in the Islamic religion, the attachment of the soul to the body is highly essential. ââ¬ËIn Islam it is presumed that life continues after death, and it is therefore essential to preserve the bodyââ¬â¢ (Starkey, 2009). To preserve the body, the Islamic followers tend to bury it. In the graves, the spirit of the body is faced with torments of the darkness, where the spirit suffers for the bad deeds of its life (Starkey, 2009). The spirits wait in the grave until they are called by Allah (Islamic god) to receive a judgment (Starkey, 2009) whereas the forgiven spirits will get a glimpse of paradise and find their graves very peaceful. These are a few points on how the body should be treated for after life according to Hinduism and Islamic cultures. For judgment, according to both the religion, has to reach a specific place. In both the religions, the souls are transported to this location by the Death Angel. According to Hinduism, the Death Angel is termed as Yamaraj. Yamaraj (Yama) has various followers called Yamduts, who will bring the soul to Yamlok (Indian Mythology, Hindu Mythology Articles). In Yamlok, an AngelShow MoreRelated 1. Fictional Memoir Samples for Students â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Fictional Memoir and Humanity. Answer: Fictional Memoir: Do not judge anyone In life, we come across many heart scorching stories that make us losing faiths on humanity. There are some of the instances that make us feel shattered and we put the blames on humanity. Be it women or men, people equally face the bad experiences in their life due to which humanity is cursed and God is to be blamed. However, in life we sometimes come across some of the unexpected moments that influence our perceptions towards livelihood, people, society, and the superstitious beliefs. We have the tendency to blame the darkness and appreciate the lights. Did we ever understand what is light without the little darkness? We seek a positive life, yet we fear of facing the uncertainties and troubles. We never think of the consequences we have been experiencing are created due to our own deeds. People often put the blames on others when they face some of the negative consequences in their life. I personally believe that people face the consequences as per their deeds. People often are inc lined towards the materialistic staffs that sometimes may lead them towards the unexpected consequences. Another major drawback of the human is the tendency of judging people. People sometimes judge others without having the knowledge about their situation and the life they have been going through daily. This memoir is based on an incident that would make people think twice and motivate them to leave a different life with more peacefulness. One day I was travelling with my father by train with all other co-passengers. I was 12 years old, but I clearly remembered the incident since it directly affected my mind and heart. In fact, not only me, I believe it has changed the perceptions of many of the people who have been judging people by observing the outside situations. There was an old man travelling with us on the same train with his 24 years old son. The boy was quite excited sitting beside the window seat. He started shouting, Dad, these trees are going behind. It was quite strange observations to the passengers who were also travelling in the same compartment. Especially, there was a couple who have been watching this behavior of that young boy. On the other hand, me, as a child, unable to understand anything, was just staring at them and trying to observe the entire sequence. But, the couple seemed to be looking at the childish behavior of an old boy with pity. All of a sudden, the boy again exclaimed, Dad, look the clouds are running with us! His dad smiled at the boy and applauded with her. I was quite amused since I was a little child who is much influenced by such scenery. After some time, the couple could not resist themselves from asking the father of the child. They asked, Why dont you take your son to a good doctor? They seemed to assume that the boy is a special child who behaves different to the normal children. They thought that the boy needs special treatment to be back to the normal life. The old man again smiled and replied, I did and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today. The couple and the co-passengers in the compartment were left speechless. I observed that some of the people even had the tears in their eyes. Today, when I have grown up and recall this memory, it still creates a repercussion in my life. The story cleared that every person on the earth has some unique story that is uncovered to others. It is really a foolish thing to judge people without knowing their story. In life we are sometimes blinded by the materialistic needs. Moreover, the effects of the society create the psychological repercussion on a childs mind. However, what we often fail to understand is people deal with their different battle every day. It is necessary to think beyond what is visible to their eyes since everyone has story to share with others. Some even try to hide their story since they think that others are unable to understand. We face the consequences as per our deeds, but we do not have the right to judge a person with their outside condition. When the truth is revealed, the reality might surprise you. Even though I was just a child who barely could judge anything at that moment, the memories I recall help me in gaining back my balance. Whenever, I become judgmental towards any specific scenario or a person, I try to learn from this incident. In life, whenever I think of this incident, it changes my point of view in a drastic way. The worldly things and the materialistic needs have the power to create impacts on our minds. Today, we are busy with our daily lives, works, schools, college, and family. However, in every situation, we provide our different reactions towards the different scenario. Sometimes, we are shattered due to our sorrows while we become happy with joy. In different situations, we perceive differently and judge the situations accordingly. Judgment is basically a form of being capable of share some ideas and actions that are better than others. People are often judged unfairly by others. In my personal life, I have faced many of these situations where I am judged by the people. Sometimes, it makes me feel low, but I should not be affected by others opinion. The incident, I came across at my early age has created the longer impacts on our minds. Therefore, whenever I feel low about myself due to others opi nion, I keep recalling these memories to enhance self-confidence. This incident even taught me another most reality of life. We often blame God since we are not happy with our life. In spite of having the secure organs and the ability to live our lives without any health issues, we seek for perfection. The continuous expectations usually lead us towards such dissatisfaction about life. On the other hand, people with physical or mental disabilities perceive the life as the best gift. All we need to learn how to stay happy with the things we already have. People often are inclined towards the materialistic staffs that sometimes may lead them towards the unexpected consequences. When we seek for the better option we often make mistakes. We keep on comparing our lives with others. We are just led by our materialistic needs that eventually end up hurting us. Therefore, it is necessary to look beyond the situation and mostly stop judging others. We should not waste our time seeking perfection and demanding for better life. Life has the better way to surp rise us and we can achieve success if we can stay happy with the things that we already have. The influence of the worldly things should not affect our morale, moreover our lives. We should be seeking help from ourselves to establish our own identity rather than wasting our time on judging others actions. The determination we hold to ourselves should not be affected by others judgment. The purpose of sharing this memoir is to suggest about the negative sides of being a victim of others judgments, which affects the psychological condition of the people. Especially, the young generation faces such situation, which creates the significant impact on their mental state. Even in some cases, it affects their views towards society and lives.
